May 13th, 2014 -- Post 1

"That's something I used to always do before.. that. I actually stayed up night after night, thinking about.. that.   See, it wasn't my fault, I swear it was just.. that.
I can pin point the exact moment this whole misunderstanding took place. Imagine yourself in the booming spring of 2004; you're about 11 years young and an eager participant in the local neighborhood after-school daycare program. You love the Lakers, but don't really know why yet. You're eagerly thuggin' in the most luxurious and stylish JC Penny (does anyone still go there?) outfit an immigrant mother can buy."

-------------------

I have always been pseudo-awkward with introductions and found myself over thinking the start of this blog. My name is Alireza but its easier on the phonetics to go by the name Ali. I wanted to take myself out of this self imposed comfort zone and into a new environment. I want the same adventure Columbus had, but with direction. My experiences are my vessel and the internet guides me as if they were stars. If this were made for academia, the project description would read: "An exploration into the study of technological accountability", which I believe is personally accomplish-able through a daily blog. 365 Days, 365 Posts. I'm going to skip any and all history of myself. The failed intro is history enough.

Today is May 13th, 2014 and besides going to class, a meeting, and skipping lunch; I haven't done anything productive. I define productivity as an action that ends with positive results. I spent the last few hours reading dozens of "How To's" on studying abroad... just to keep coming back to the same realization that the chances of actually going are dismal. This is actually the first time I used "dismal" in a sentence. I heard it for the first time on Law and Order last night. The episode was about..

Break.

Sorry, I tend to go be on tangents a lot. I'll keep the tangents in the blog for the originality, but they'll be followed by breaks just so you (the reader) won't have to bother with it.  As I was saying, this Tuesday was not very productive. Actually, scratch that. I'm wrong. This blog is a momentous achievement. I hate writing. I'm an introvert. I have the single child syndrome. I'm awkward at times. I love big-macs more than double doubles. I love learning about Civil Engineering more than anything. I am Big Al, and I have tickets for the next showing of "Neighbors" at Triangle Square theaters. I hope you enjoy this blog, as much as I enjoy living it. The first post may seem jumbled and unfinished, but just as I said earlier; I'm not one for introductions. "Hopefully, I get recognized for this blog."  <---- That was going to be my exit sentence from this blog! Can you believe it?  It doesn't take a J.K Rowling  to figure out that I'm equally as bad with good-byes.

Till Tomorrow...
